As the owner and operator of Big Meadow Lodge I am a busy entrepreneur. I developed and sold several properties over the past 30 years. In 2003 the newly furnished properties were officially open for business. I am always looking to expand my business ventures and I am also working, with my team, on to develop a Cottage and Cabins rental. The goal is to provide a relaxing place away from home for all our customers.
We also welcome foreign students from the Willing Workers on Organic Farms program (wwoof Canada) to help us with daily duties like cleaning and yard work.
Residents of all the Big Meadow Lodge properties can enjoy the lush green landscape and farm animals. The property is home to miniature donkey’s, horses, dogs, cats and cows. There is always something to do when you live on a farm, if we are not cutting grass were shoveling snow or feeding the animals. We also love to garden and most summers the veggies are so plentiful that we sell them at the local farmer’s market. We are also a member of Wwoof Canada, with this organization we host and work with international guests and travelers.
The Big Meadow Lodge is located in the heart of the Lakeland District. There are 8 large lakes nearby that host some of Alberta’s best sport fishing tournaments. There are plenty of camping facilities, kid’s summer camps, swimming beaches and water sports to try. Year round these lakes provide endless activities; ice fishing, skating, hockey, or sledding are all common winter sights on the lakes. Beaver River is less than a ¼ km from the property. On a warm day, floating on tubes or canoeing down the river is a great way to relax and see the pristine river banks and wildlife. Bring a cooler of food and drinks and stop at a white sandy beach for a fireside lunch.
Canoes are available for rent
